“English is not a subject that is rote learned - it's a subject which has to be understood. My English teaching style revolves around fundamentally understanding why we write. When writing creatively, why do we describe? Why do we set up characters? When writing essays, why do we provide evidence? Why do we write in a particular structure? By learning the answers to these questions, students are able to understand the relationship that we, as responders, have with authors and their intentions, allowing students to develop their English skills holistically as they mature, naturally integrating their knowledge and experiences into writing. Ultimately, the goal of my teaching is to make English feel as enjoyable and less forced as possible - as a subject which is compulsory for the HSC, it is essential that students develop the correct fundamentals and attitude towards it from an early grade.”
